ENERGY PRODUCTION

The challenges faced in energy production and related engineering technology are to increase the efficiency and profitability of the systems. As a result, higher operating temperatures and pressures increase the material requirements of the various equipment components. The required material properties are stability at high temperatures, good tensile strength and corrosion resistance. The most affected by stress are gas turbines, coal pressure-gasification, burners, heat exchangers, fuel cells, collectors and flue gas scrubbers.

NUCLEAR ENERGY

In atomic energy, thermal energy is released through nuclear fission. The energy is then converted to kinetic energy by means of water vapor and pressure components. This kinetic energy is converted into electrical energy by steam turbines and generators. In this process, there are strong forces and high temperatures from various components: regulator and safety devices, turbine shafts and blades, and all types of pressure-bearing parts. Security is an important element of atomic energy and has the highest priority. Only nickel-based alloys can be used here. Wear and wear resistance properties mean that these alloys can meet high safety requirements. Only those meeting the highest security demand are allowed to supply components to the nuclear technology industry.

PETRO-CHEMICAL

During multi-stage processes of refining crude oil to basic or high quality final products, the highest demands are placed on the process reliability and quality of the products. In order to withstand the constant load, the installers rely on forging and heat-resistant forging products. Here, parts that are extremely resistant to changing temperatures, humidity and corrosive and potentially explosive atmospheres are used. Due to their good mechanical properties, nickel alloys which exhibit outstanding fatigue strength at fluctuating temperatures and exceptional resistance to several types of corrosion are suitable.

OFF-SHORE AND MARINE

Material demands at sea are extremely high, because materials are exposed to adverse environmental conditions. Abrasive seawater and excessive abrasive mixture of crude oil, gas and sand cause excessive abrasion under high pressure and at high temperatures. Components in various regions exposed to high stress include, for example, couplings, gaskets, pump bodies and desalination rings. Special materials are used in this area that can only withstand mechanical and chemical demands. Most importantly, these materials exhibit excellent corrosion resistance, tensile corrosion resistance and good mechanical properties at temperatures up to 550 ° C.
