AISI 321 (1.4541, UNS S32100) is an austenitic stainless steel with characteristics similar to AISI 304 stainless steel but contains at least five times its titanium content. This titanium admixture reduces or completely inhibits carbide precipitation during welding and in the operating temperature range from 800 to 1500 ° F (427 – 816 ° C). It also improves the high temperature properties of the alloy.

AISI 321H is an improved version of AISI 321 (1.4541, UNS S32100) with a higher carbon content to provide improved high temperature strength. AISI 321 (1.4541, UNS S32100) provides excellent resistance to oxidation and corrosion and has good creep resistance. AISI 321 (1.4541, UNS S32100) It is especially used in applications with continuous and intermittent operating temperatures within the range of 800 – 1500 ° F (427 – 816 ° C) carbide precipitation.

Alloys AISI 321 and AISI 347 are austenic stainless steels developed by addition of titanium (AISI 321 (1.4541, UNS S32100)) or niobium (AISI 347). These alloys are used because they are not sensitive to intergranular corrosion after heating process within the range of carbide precipitation of 425-850 ° C. AISI 321 (1.4541, UNS S32100) exhibits high strength and durability in temperature ranges up to approximately 900 ° C.

The AISI 321H class has a higher carbon content of 321 to provide improved high temperature strength.

As with other austenitic grades, AISI 321 and AISI 347 have excellent forming and welding properties. They also have excellent toughness even up to freezing temperatures.
