AISI 409 (1.4512, UNS S40900, X2CrTi12)
AISI 409 (1.4512, UNS S40900) is a ferritic stainless steel. Ferritic stainless steels are based on chromium as the same martensitic stainless steels, but their carbon content is lower.
Other elements in ferritic stainless steel are molybdenum, aluminum (to increase corrosion resistance) and sulfur (to increase processability).
The main feature of this type of stainless steel is the increase in chromium content and the medium corrosion resistance and magnetization property obtained by adding molybdenum.
AISI 409 cannot be hardened and can only be used after thermal annealing.
