AISI 410/410S (UNS S41008, 1.4000)

AISI 410 / 410S (UNS S41008, 1.4000) is a martensitic stainless steel with 12% chromium for general purpose. The addition of a low carbon and small alloy minimizes austenite formation at high temperatures that restrict the hardening of the alloys. The AISI 410S remains soft and ductile even when cooled rapidly above the critical temperature. This non-hardening property helps prevent cracking when the alloy is exposed to high temperatures or when welded. AISI 410S is fully ferritic in annealed condition. It has good corrosion resistance and good oxidation resistance similar to 410.
