processability (including joining) and outstanding corrosion resistance. Operating temperatures range from freezing temperatures to 982 ° C. Chemical composition is given in the table above. The strength of Inconel 625 comes from the hardening effect on the nickel-chrome matrix of molybdenum and niobium. This element combination also shows outstanding resistance to high temperature effects such as oxidation and carburizing, as well as the abrasive environments of unusual severity. Due to the ease of production, it is converted to various components for plant equipment. Its high strength allows the use of other materials in thin walled containers or pipes as much as possible, thus ensuring heat transfer and weight savings.

Some applications that require a combination of power and corrosion resistance offered by Inconel 625 are bubble covers, tubing, reaction vessels, distillation columns, heat exchangers, transfer pipes and valves. In the nuclear field, the Inconel 625 can be used for reactor-core and control rod components in nuclear water reactors. The material is preferred due to its high strength, excellent uniform corrosion resistance, resistance to stress crack and excellent pore resistance in 260-316 ° C (260 ° C – 310 ° F). Inconel 625 is also used in advanced reactor concepts due to the high design power allowed at elevated temperatures, especially between 1200 ° -1400 ° F (649-760 ° C).

INCONEL 625 CORROSION RESISTANCE

WATER CORROSION

The Inconel 625 high alloy content allows it to withstand a wide range of abrasive environments. There is almost no attack in light environments such as atmosphere, fresh sea water, neutral salts and alkaline environments. In heavier corrosive environments, the combination of nickel and chromium resists oxidizing chemicals, while the high content of nickel and molybdenum provides resistance to non-oxidizing environments. The high content of molybdenum also makes this alloy very resistant to pitting and crevice corrosion, and the niobium prevents the alloy from cracking later, keeping the alloy balanced against sensitization during welding. In addition, the high nickel content provides freedom from chloride ion stress corrosion breakage. This combination of features makes Inconel 625 useful over a broad spectrum of corrosive conditions. For example, hydrochloric and nitric acids are recommended as a building material for a storage tank for the handling of chemical wastes containing chemicals that represent types of direct opposite corrosion problems.

Inconel 625 shows high resistance to high temperature oxidation.

Inconel 625 Available Products & Specifications

Inconel 625 is designated UNS N06625, 2.4856 and ISO NW6625 and is listed in NACE MR-01-75.

Inconel 625 Rod, Rod, Wire and Forging Stocks

ASTM B 446 / ASME SB 446 (Rod and Rod), ASTM B 564 / ASME SB 564 (Forging), SAE / AMS 5666 SAE / AMS 5837 (Wire), ISO 9723 Rod, ISO 9724 (Wire), ISO 9725 ( Forging treatment), VdTÜV 499 (Rod), BS 3076NA21, EN 10095, DIN 17752 ASME, DIN 17754 (forged), DIN 17753 (Wire).
