Hastelloy C-22 alloy (UNS N06022) is one of the highest corrosion-resistant nickel-chromium-molybdenum alloys. The main characteristics of Hastelloy C22 are that they are very resistant to oxidizing and non-oxidizing chemicals. The high chrome content makes it more resistant to oxidizing environments than the Hastelloy C-276 alloy.

Like other nickel alloys, the Hastelloy C22 alloy is also very ductile, shows excellent weldability and is easily manufactured. The plate is available in the form of sheet, strip, billet, rod, wire, pipe, tube and welding electrode and welding wire. Hastelloy C22 is widely used in chemical processing industry.

HASTELLOY C22 WELDING AND PRODUCTION

Hastelloy C-22 ® is suitable for welding, Gas Metal Arc (GMA / MIG), Gas Tungsten Arc (GTA / TIG) and Shielded Metal Arc (SMA / Stick) welding processes.

The forged products of the Hastelloy C-22 alloy are supplied in annealed condition unless otherwise specified. This solution is designed to make the annealing procedure best suited to the corrosion and ductility of the alloy. After all hot forming processes, the material is re-annealed to recover the optimum properties. The aluminum is re-annealed to give an outer fiber elongation of 7% or more after any cold forming process. The annealing temperature for HASTELLOY® C-22® alloy is 1121 ° C (2050 ° F) and water extinguishing is recommended (fast air cooling can be applied in structures thinner than 10 mm (0.375 in)) Waiting time at annealing temperature (full of thick structures For more detailed information on the heat treatment of HASTELLOY® C-22® alloy, please click here.

Hastelloy C22 alloy hot forging, hot rolled, hot upset, hot rolled and hot formable. However, the austenitic stainless steels are more sensitive to strain and strain rates than the stainless steel and the hot working temperature range is quite narrow. For example, the recommended starting temperature for hot forging is 1232 ° C (2250 ° F) and the recommended end temperature is 954 ° C (1750 ° F). As described here, moderate discounts and frequent reheating give the best result. In addition, the Hastelloy C-22 alloy hardens more easily than most austenitic stainless steel.

Cold work often does not affect the resistance of the Hastelloy C-22 alloy to general corrosion and chloride-induced pitting and crack attack, while stress can affect resistance to corrosion cracking. For optimum corrosion performance, it is important that the cold-machined parts are re-annealed.
