NITRONIC 50 (XM-19, 1.3964, UNS S20910)
Nitronic 50 Resists corrosion and is superior to 316 Stainless Steel. It has good mechanical properties at ambient and sub-zero temperatures. Unlike other austenitic stainless steels, they are not magnetic when cooled or cooled to temperatures below zero.
GENERAL FEATURES OF NITRONIC 50 (XM-19)
Nitronic 50 (XM-19) is an austenitic stainless steel.
Nitronic 50 (XM-19) stainless steel provides a combination of corrosion resistance and strength that are not available in any commercial material in the price range. The corrosion resistance of Nitronic 50 (XM-19) is higher than the corrosion resistance provided by the 316 and 316L Types and is approximately twice as high as the room temperature. In addition, the Nitronic 50 (XM-19) has very good mechanical properties both at elevated and subzero temperatures. And, unlike many austenitic stainless steels, Nitronic 50 (XM-19) is not magnetic after cold processing.
NITRONIC 50 (XM-19) OUTSTANDING FEATURES

NITRONIC 50 (XM-19) MARKING TEMPERATURE
Nitronic 50 (XM-19) Stainless Steel is available from 1950 F to 2050 F (1066 C to 1121 C). For most applications, the 1950 F (1066 C) condition should be selected, providing a higher mechanical property with excellent corrosion resistance. If the welded material is to be used in strongly corrosive environments, a minimum of 2050 F (1121 C) must be specified to minimize the possibility of inter-elemental attack.
NITRONIC 50 (XM-19) CORROSION PRODUCT DETAILS
Nitronic 50 (XM-19) Stainless Steel provides superior corrosion resistance to 316, 316L, 317 and 317L types in many media. For many applications, the 1950 F (1066 C) annealed condition provides sufficient corrosion resistance and a higher strength level.
Nitronic 50 (XM-19) For use in highly corrosive environments or where materials are to be welded, a annealed condition of 2050 F (1121 C) must be specified. High-strength (HS) NITRONIC 50 is useful in applications such as bars, shafts and bolts, but does not show the corrosion resistance of annealed conditions much in all environments.
NITRONIC 50 (XM-19) STRENGTH-CORROSION RESISTANCE RESISTANCE
NITRONIC 50 Stainless Steel under certain conditions in most stainless steels may cause stress-corrosion cracking in hot chloride environments. The boiling 420/0 MgCl2 solution is Nitronic 50 (XM-19) Stainless Steel between 304 and 316 stainless steels, which resist cracking when tested in a very fast test.
NITRONIC 50 (XM-19) SULFUR STRESS BREAKING
Both laboratory tests and field service experience have shown that the Nitronic 50 (XM-19) stainless material offers excellent resistance to sulfur stress cracking in weather conditions.
