HAYNES 214 (2.4646, UNS N07214)

Haynes 214 is a Nickel-Chromium-Aluminum-Iron alloy. Haynes 214 has very good oxidation resistance at temperatures of 955 ° C (1750 ° F) and higher.

At these temperatures, Haynes 214 performs better than almost all conventional heat-resistant alloys.

HAYNES 214 BASIC FEATURES

PERFECT OXIDATION RESISTANCE

The Haynes 214 alloy (UNS N07214) is designed to provide high temperature oxidation resistance. Haynes 214 is also a nickel-chrome-aluminum-iron alloy that allows conventional forming and joining.

Designed primarily for use at temperatures of 1750 ° F (955 ° C) and above, Haynes 214 has oxidation resistance that exceeds almost all conventional heat-resistant alloys at these temperatures.

This resistance exhibited by Haynes 214 can be correlated with the formation of a protective oxide layer of Al2O3 type, which is tighter than the chromium oxide at high temperatures. Haynes 214 develops an oxide which is a mixture of chromium and aluminum oxides at temperatures below 1750 ° F (955 ° C). The higher temperature Al2O3 formed by the Haynes 214 alloy provides excellent resistance to carburizing, nitriding and corrosion in oxidizing environments containing chlorine.

HAYNES 214 MACHINING

Haynes 214 exhibits good forming and welding properties. If Haynes 214 is held at 2100 ° F (1150 ° C) for a time sufficient to bring the whole part to a temperature, it can be forged or otherwise processed hot. Stress ductility at room temperature is sufficiently high for shaping the Haynes 214 to cold work. All cold or hot machined parts must be annealed and cooled rapidly to ensure the best balance of properties.

Haynes 214 can be welded by various techniques including gas tungsten arc (TIG), gas metal arc (MIG) or shielded metal arc (coated electrode) welding.

HAYNES 214 APPLICATIONS

Haynes 214 is mainly used in the production of ceramics and tiles. It is mostly used in the construction of various parts of baking ovens. Haynes 214 is also used in heat treatment furnaces where heat treatment of parts is performed. Haynes 214 is also used in automotive industry, gas turbines and industrial heating systems.

 HAYNES 214 OXIDATION RESISTANCE

Haynes 214 has very high oxidation resistance and is suitable for use in many high temperature applications requiring oxidation resistance.

 HAYNES 214 CARBONING RESISTANCE

Haynes 214 shows excellent resistance to carburizing in both graphite exposure and mixed gas exposure environments.

HAYNES 214 WELDING

Haynes 214 should be welded with suitable welding materials made of its own composition.
